John Lackey throws a 5 hit complete game shutout. John Lackey and his catcher Jeff Mathis looked like a 2 man team that could not be beaten tonight! Lackey has got his 10th win on the season and it was a complete gem,literally. John Lackey (10-7) will be a free agent at the end of this year but he’s not pitching for a contract. He’s pitching like a leader trying to lead his pitching staff and angels team to the postseason.

Ichiro Sizuki was four hits shy of having his 9th straight year with 200 hits at the start of this game. Ichiro ends the game still four hits shy of 200 going 0 for 4 with a couple of strikeouts.

      So let’s talk about Andy’s hectic battle versus John Isner. To me Andy came out flat with little intensity. It looked like he was really trying to get a read on Isner’s serve and  getting a feel for the match. While Andy was busy getting read’s and feeling out the game John Isner was dominate on serve and dictating and commanding the points at net like the beast he is. I have to give Isner credit like he deserves, but this was Roddick’s match to win or lose.
